The Species Survival Network first
provided the CITES Secretariat
with a list of resources for the placement of live confiscated fauna in
2002 (CITES
Notification No. 2002/074). This list was updated and
distributed by the CITES Secretariat in December 2007 (CITES
Notification No. 2007/049) and forms the
basis of the directory contained on these pages.
CITES
Resolution Conf. 10.7 on Disposal of confiscated live specimens of
species included in the Appendices
provides recommendations
and guidance to the Parties on seized and/or confiscated live
specimens. SSN is confident that the
Parties and their enforcement agencies
will consider SSN's list of resources a vital tool to assist them when
dealing with the detention or disposal of live animals that have been
seized.
Please note that
not all of these facilities or organizations have been visited by SSN
Members and therefore, inclusion in this list does not represent
endorsement by SSN. The list
contained on these pages is continually updated. If you have any
changes, please contact SSN directly at info@ssn.org.
