The
SSN Animals in Captivity
Working Group examines the welfare of CITES-listed animals in
international trade. The Group assesses transport conditions and
standards; monitors mortality of live wildlife in international trade;
examines the husbandry standards and other features of destination
facilities and holding areas for live wildlife in trade; and evaluates
captive breeding operations for CITES-listed species of wildlife,
particularly those listed on Appendix I.
